Description

The Model AE-811LX is a superheterodyne receiver with a helical resonator as an antenna pre-filter. The receiver is enclosed in an all metal brass housing and offers reliable performance in areas with high levels of radio interference or where extended range is needed. Extended range receiver with antenna prefilter for RFI protection. For use in areas with high levels of radio interference or where extended range is needed.

The receiver automatically performs non-polled supervision of Smart-Wave transmitters. It outputs the transmitter battery condition of all transmitters as well as follows the ALARM/ RESTORE status of the transmitters which are loaded into memory.

 

Wiring Connections

The 811LX is equipped with a 6 pin connector and cable for easy disconnect.

The wiring connections are as follows:

  • Black - Ground
  • White - Relay N/O contact
  • Green - Relay Common
  • Orange - Relay N/C contact
  • Blue - Data Signal Output
  • Red - Power (+) 12-16 Volts DC (Load = 15 ma standby, 45 ma relay active)

Relay contacts are rated at 1 amp at 30 Volts DC.

Installation and Range

Open field range is 600 to 900 feet to the point where reception ceases to be reliable. This is without interference or obstructions. The receiver should be mounted vertically with the antenna extended away from the receiver. The receiver should be located away from metal objects or structures and away from electrical appliances and fixtures.

Matching Transmitters to the Receiver

The Model 811LX receiver stores the transmitter key codes in an internal memory cell which retains the information even when the power is removed. The receiver will not respond to any transmitter which does not have its corresponding key code stored in memory. Up to 30 Key codes can be stored in the receiver memory.

 

To load a transmitter key code into the receiver memory:

  • 1. Connect power to the receiver.
  • 2. Remove the plastic plug on the face of the receiver and locate the "Teach" button.
  • 3. Using a pencil eraser or similar object, depress the "Teach" button at the same time the transmitter is activated.
  • 4. When the receiver activates (usually less than 1 second), the key code is stored in memory.

 To clear codes from receiver memory: 

 

    • 1. Turn off the power to the receiver.
    • 2. While holding the "Teach" button depressed turn on the power to the receiver.

When the power is first applied to the receiver the internal processor checks to see if the "Teach" mode is active. If the teach mode is active the internal processor erases the memory.

Low Battery Indicator

The wire tab connector is a low battery output. The Smart-Wave transmitters send the battery status with each activation. If the transmitter battery is low, the low battery output will switch to ground (-). This output is a solid state switch which is normally off (non conducting) and conducts to ground (-) when active.

 


Data Output/Remote Teach

The blue wire is the Data output and remote teach input. When the blue wire is connected to (+) 12 volts the receiver is set into the "teach" mode. When the receiver must be located in a remote location (such as an attic), the blue wire may be routed to the panel such that receiver programming can be done from the panel. THE BLUE WIRE MUST BE DISCONNECTED FROM 12V and connected to (-) when the programming is completed in order to remove the receiver from the "TEACH" mode.

 

When using the 601A Six channel decoder zone expander the blue wire is attached to either the grey or white wire or both of the six channel decoder. The Data output (blue wire) is the data input to the decoders. One receiver can drive several decoders.
